I have golden retriever, which as well as three other dogs I have, I keep outside. He has been having an ongoing problem with diarrhea even though he is on the same diet as my other dogs, who aren’t having that problem. What might be causing that, and what are the best remedies ( without going to a vet and spending hundreds of $s) to alleviate or cure that?

My dog has sever abdomonal pain. He cannot use his back legs now and is not eating. You cannot even touch his stomach without him yelping. He has had very very small bowel movements the last two days hardly any at all and now none at all. When I go to pick him up he pees on the floor. We took to vet had an x-ray no bowel obstruction. Spine is fine. One vet says look like tumor in stomach the other vet said no its just his intestines. What do I do. He is on pain meds for now.

I took my kitten to the vet recently, and she was diagnosed with a pretty bad infestation of roundworms. After her first round of dewormer, she has been having awful and constant diarrhea. Normally she is very good about using the litter box, but since the treatment, she has been eliminating all over the place. She has a ton of worms in her stool, so obviously the dewormer is working.
Could the roundworm treatment be the cause of her problems, and if so is it reasonable that she might not be using the litter box all the time?

I have read conflicting articles about this. I have 5.1 month old male YorkiePoo with diarrhea. He is eating and drinking fine, seems playful and otherwise just fine. I read to sprinkle garlic powder on their food. Had anyone had luck with this, and if so, how much garlic powder (or garlic salt) do you use? Does it work? His diarrheas has been for about 1 day now. I will take him to my vet if needed, I just thought I could try something else first, as my vet seems to take the long way around things, and hence, lots of $$.
I didn’t recently change his diet and he never eats anything other than his dog food. About the Immodium, how much would I give and what frequency?

He’s 10 months old, and is having some allergy issues. We have to find a food that works, but it’s causing diarrhea switching his food every 2-4 weeks.

Has anyone ever given their dog Immodium?
I wouldn’t give him medication without checking with my vet. But since she charges for phone consultations, I thought I would check here first to see if it was even possible.

I just let my dog out to go potty, and she had blood in her diarrhea. She has had diarrhea since Thursday night. I with take her to the vet tomorrow, but i would just like to know before i get there? I think it might be worms.. but i just gave her the hear tworm pill the 15th of June. Please help.

He has been to the vet and given to prescriptions. The vet had him overnight to see for him self then feed him medicated food. Some thing called IQ or something for diarrhea. He then said it was a food issue. Ok fine I feed him Iams digestive stuff that has been the best but. What else can I feed him? There isn’t much without prescription cat food I can find that isn’t expensive. Wet or canned would be best.

I have gone to the vet and am giving him meds for the diarrhea so dont worry about that. Just wondering if dry food will be less likely to turn into diarrhea?? Thanks!!

My dog just had puppies last week and has had diarrhea for the last 4 days. I called my Vet and they took a stool sample and said it was fine. He said to give her Kaopectate and see if this helps. Nope, she still has it. Plus I do not want to give her too much medication since her pups will get that too. I am calling the Vet again tomorrow, but thought I would ask now: What else should I try?

My 12 year old cat was recently diagnosed with IBD. The vet prescribed methylprednisolone which worked well but he wants to wean her off of it because it’s not really good to use steroids for long periods of time. Now he has prescribed cisapride. Eveything I read about cisapride says that it is for constipation. It seems strange to me to use something for constipation to treat diarrhea. Has anyone else had experience with cisapride for diarrhea.
