My sister has IBS so bad that she developed agoraphobia(?) –she ‘fears’ going out to public places because she doesn’t want to get embarrassed with ‘uncontrolled’ episodes. I don’t know what to suggest to her. I told her perhaps it may be a side effect of one or more of her meds, but don’t know for sure. She’s on a couple of meds for the IBS, but they don’t seem to help much. Any suggestions?????
i was recently diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) certain meds can set off my stomach and upset me.. in case of emergency would it be important for someone to know this? if so should i get a medical bracelet?
I have a lot of anxiety issues mainly when it comes to social situations. I have never seen a doctor about this, but would like some meds to calm me down because it gets worse as I get older. I think this relates to my spastic colon, my stomach always goes crazy when I’m in social situations. What kind of doctor do I see for this? Can my GP prescribe medication for this or do I have to see a shrink? Thanks!!
I need to lose a few pounds and I’ve eaten all the low fat dinners like Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine etc…I have a spastic colon which is being controlled by meds. Yet, those dinners kill me and hurt my stomach. Any suggestions? 
If you know anything about irritable (sp?) / spastic colon please help me.
I have had spastic colon nearly all my life. This is the first time it’s bothered me this badly. I took two Hyomax SL 0.125 MG a few minutes ago and just took a pain pill.
About an hour ago we were at a restaurant and it started. I knew I didn’t feel like eating today, so I didn’t much. But the spasms won’t stop. It was constipation first, followed by acute diarrhea. Now it’s just liquid. The pain and spasms won’t quit. PLEASE tell me what to do. We have a lousy hospital ER. If we go they’ll make us sit forever. They’re very slow.
Is there something I can do to make it stop? I don’t know how much longer I can take this! This is the WORST it’s ever been. (Could it be a stomach bug making the colon spasm worse? My 11 year old daughter had diarrhea at the same time, in another bathroom.) ANY advice will be worth it. Any ideas how to make it a little better?
(If it’s too late this time, do you have advice for future events?)

I did what you said; took some nausea meds, which are making me sleepy but also took away the nausea (thank goodness!).
I appreciate the advice. I’ll *try* to go lie down now. Husband is willing to take me somewhere if it doesn’t stop soon, but otherwise I’ll call my doctor in morning. Thanks again!

My son is 5 months old and recently has taken antibiotics for an ear infection. As soon as he started them he began to have green runny stools. Dr said that it was normal while taking meds but he finished them over a week ago and still has diarrhea. Is this normal?
HELP!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN DIAGONOSED WITH SPASTIC COLON SINCE 2003. I HAVE THESE ATTACKS THAT INCLUDE SEVERE STOMACH CRAMPS THAT I SOMETIMES PASS OUT FROM, DIARRHEA (5-7 DAYS A WEEK), SHORTNESS OF BREATH, RAPID HEARTBEAT, PROFUSE SWEATING WHERE I AM DRENCHED HEAD TO TOE, FEELING HOT, DIZZY, THEN CHILLED TO THE BONE WHERE BY BODY TEMP DROPS TO ABOUT 94 OR 92, MY STOMACH TO THE TOUCH TURNS ICE COLD. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE SPASTIC COLON TO ANYONE? DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS? I HAD MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED IN 03 WHEN THIS ALL STARTED, AS I WAS TOLD THAT WAS WHAT WAS CAUSING MY SYMPTOMS AT THE TIME. WRONG!!! EVERYTHING HAS GOTTEN WORST. I’VE HAD 5 COLONOSCOPIES SINCE 03, NO CANCER BUT A POLOP. 2 ENDOSCOPIES THE LAST ONE SHOWED DIALATED BLOOD VESSELS. MY STOMACH IS SO SENSITIVE I CAN NOT TAKE PAIN KILLERS OR 98% OF MEDS BECAUSE MY STOMACH WILL BLEED AND HURT AS IF IT’S BEING RIPPED APART. I SUFFER EVERYDAY IN PAIN. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? I AM AT THE END OF MY ROPE…:-(
I have tried over 30 different prescription’s with no help or relief. The last was belladonna which i could not function with.
