Why severe accident such as perforatin occuurs at colonoscopy ? The reason is sigmoid colon is bended whie inserting of scope and scope is inserted forcibly through the bended colon. Why sigmoid colon is bended ? The reason is blowing of air Then,is it possible to insert scope to cecum without air? We claim ” it is possible ! ” This is the core of our technique Our new technique differs from standard colonoscopy insertion technique in respect of the followings. 1:While inserting scope to cecum,No Air is used at all. In fact we (=all endoscopists) have unconscious peculiarity to use air to secure the field of view. To prevent this unconscious peculiarity, the switch of blowing air and water is turned off ! 2:To secure the view,soft black rubber cap is attached at the tip of scope(of course black cap could be substitutede by transparent cap).Anyway,the cap prevent the contact of colon and scope’s lens. 3: Instead of blowing air, minimum volume of water is inserted by 50ml syringe through the sucking / biopsy channel.
