I work at a daycare and this past Friday one of my babies was sick. He had red diarrhea that was so bad that it came out of his diaper and dripped on the floor while he sat at the table. A nurse came in the room she said that it was blood. The baby had his shots a few days ago and he was put on antibiotics. Would shots cause this to happen? What could have cause this?

For antibiotic associated diarrhea, my doctor tells me that eating yogurt is good for getting a lot of the good bacteria that antibiotics kill and that bananas and apple juice are good for replacing the potassium lost from diarrhea. Are there any other remedies that are good for treating antibiotic associated diarrhea?

The doctor put me on 2 antibiotics, & 1 of the side effects is diarrhea. Today, it seemed like I was NEVER gonna get to get off the toilet! How can your body produce THAT much of diarrhea? & my stomach was hurting, & I had gas, too.
I can’t eat yogurt. I have trouble swallowing it.

Can Ibs or colitis cause tenderness in the abdomen?
Right or left side when you press on your abdomen?
And if you antibiotics for other reason like infection in my skin and receive the medication intramuscular would it affect or make my IBS or colitis worse?
Plz help, and do share if you have a personal experience…

I have bronchitis, & one of the side effects of the antibiotics that the doctor gave me (Zithromax) is diarrhea, & I coughed & made diarrhea in my sleep @ the same time & I tried to clean it up, but the smell & stain wouldn’t come out of the covers.

I know there’s no magic answer, but I can’t determine whether to put Sonny to sleep. He’s an 11-year-old orange tabby with Irritable Bowel Disorder (IBD). There’s no cure; basically he’s had diarrhea daily for almost 3 years. We’ve tried lots of things (not everything), but steroids, diet changes, antibiotics, etc. and nothing helps long term.

Lately he did really well with 9 Lives Tuna mixed with pumpkin – he actually had normal stools for the first time in years. But now he won’t eat that food anymore. His weight is down to 6.5 pounds (skin and bones) from original weight of 11.5 pounds.

For the past week he hasn’t felt well, and the IBD causes stomach pains before the diarrhea (and the diarrhea is painful too; if you’ve ever had it, you know). When I don’t feed him, he’s pain-free, but hungry and constantly begging for food/meowing/crying. It’s a vicious cycle. I have tried diet changes recently but they only add to the diarrhea.

He stopped playing with toys years ago.

My husband has been having severe abdominal pain. CT ruled out kidney stone, masses, blocked bowel, but the report says there are two loops of small intestine that are thickened. The doctor put him on antibiotics for inflammation, and we go back in 2 weeks, but I am worried about this being something serious.

My son is 5 months old and recently has taken antibiotics for an ear infection. As soon as he started them he began to have green runny stools. Dr said that it was normal while taking meds but he finished them over a week ago and still has diarrhea. Is this normal?
