I have IBS should i wear a medical bracelet?
i was recently diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) certain meds can set off my stomach and upset me.. in case of emergency would it be important for someone to know this? if so should i get a medical bracelet?
It is not a bad idea to wear a medical bracelet if you are taking any medicine for any disease. What if you became unconscious and paramedics had to be called? They would need to know your medical history so they don’t give you something that would react to what your taking now.
I strongly suggest it, and I need to do this for myself. I have to take some pretty strong medicines for Lupus.
With IBS, I’m sure that your Primary Doc is aware of this. You should have in your medical record an emergency contact person. This allows another person to have access to your medical information and can be your advocate, should there be an emergency.
IBS is a very frustrating diagnosis and, physical ailment to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
I wouldn’t think that a medical alert bracelet would be necessary but, it would be beneficial to have a family member or a loved one, be aware of what medications that you are taking. In addition, you should carry a list of your current medications with you and what they are for.
Have you tried "Align" ? It is a new and pure, probiotic that has been quite successful with IBS. Your Doc can provide you with some samples ( if available), to determine if this is helpful with your symptoms. If no samples are available, it can be purchased over-the-counter but, it’s expensive. I have found that I need the pharmacy to order it as they don’t have it in stock. ?? Why ???
I hope that this helped.
Not if you are only handling it with some over the counter medications. It may be a good idea to carry any meds where you go.
