I have IBS and need some nutrition advice?
My Dr diagnosed me with IBS and I’ve been struggling to eat right. I also have asthma, SVT and anxiety problems. I’m trying to lose some weight to get healthier. My problem is that when my stomach is really sick potato chips are the only thing that truly settles it. I’ve tried saltenes and pretzel and it’s just not the same. Potato chips are so fatty that I don’t need to be eating them but I don’t know what else to try? Please help?
I have IBS as well and it sucks! Try and stick to plain and healthy foods- brown rice, bread, pulses, grains, fresh/raw vegetables, white fish, grilled chicken and so on. Avoid really greasy foods, chinese or indian take aways, kebabs, fast food joints, red meat, coffee, red wine, fizzy juice, too much cheese and other dairy products. These are the foods that make mine better or worse but everyone is different has different "triggers".
It sounds like a really boring diet but if you avoid all these things or discover what upsets your stomach you will feel a whole lot better – maybe you could keep a food diary. When your IBS is really bad then why not try low fat potato chips or even try and make your own potato chips.
What about a baked potato?
Have you ever heard of failsafe eating? I wonder if you have food intolerances. Can you google Failsafe and Elimination diet? It’s hard to understand, but it was worth it for me. I have IBS, asthma, and anxiety problems. All three are better when I don’t eat foods i’m intolerant of
I assume you mean Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have Colitis which is a type of Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome. Different diagnosis but symptoms can be pretty similar from what Ive read. Anyway, when it’s acting up plain white rice never fails. It’s so plain and soft but still can fill you up.
i got it too. dont eat wheat products. eat only raw vegetables and fruit, youll feel greater than you ever have.
