How are folks with IBS handling the five small meals a day thing?
I work long days and eat lunch out. Are you bringing food to work or have you found alternative ways to eat? I am most interested in what you consider a meal, since I have a small stomach anyway. Thanks!
This isn’t rocket science hon. A meal needs to include all the food groups, albeit in small amounts. Meat, or protien of some sort, veggies, fruit, whole grains, fluids, and if you can tolerate it dairy. I had to give up dairy, so for me it’s all but dairy and take calcium citrate. A typical "meal" for me: four ryecrisp crackers with natural peanutbutter two baby carrots, a stalk of celery, half an apple, a quart of water and 500mg capsule of calcium citrate. A snack consists of 8oz of tomato juice and a slice of flatbread.
Nutritional balance and small amounts.
I’m a terrible eater anyway, but I get full up really quickly, most of the time I bring something to work, I have cut out citrus fruits altogether and that has helped alot but I still get attacks.
I have IBS (ulcerative colits also) too. I have a small glass of choc. milk with my vitamins and meds in the morning. I eat an apple when i get to work. Then 2 peanut butter cookies a little later. A small bag of chips around 11am. Lunch at 1:15 campbells soup. 2 more cookies around 3:30. Dinner at 5:30, mabey a popsicle. And I don’t eat past 6pm!!! No matter what! Hope that helps you.
