How long should I wait before taking my 11week old puppy to the vet if she developed diarrhea ?
My 11 week old puppy had normal stools until after it rained and she possibly drank some water in a pot. She hasn’t had a change in her food or anything new introduced to her. It has been two days she has had diarrhea. She’s still very playful and happy. She doesn’t seem sick, tomorrow she get’s her second set of shots should I make a separate appointment to see the Vet?
If you’re getting the second set of shots from a vet, then just call them in the morning and explain she’ll need to be checked. They’ll probably ask for a fecal sample to bring in. If you’re not getting the shots from a vet, hold off on them and just get her seen asap. Eleven week old puppies are too young to be outside drinking from pots, etc. They need full immunizations first.
See if the vet will check her when she gets her shots.
Just let the vet know when she goes in for her shots tomorrow. That should be fine. You have to be careful with puppies and dehydration, but it sounds like she’ll be ok until tomorrow at least. Make sure you offer her any water she wants. Check for dehydration by looking for dryness and paleness in her mucus membranes (her gums, nose and around her eyes).
this could be cocsiditosis (sp) witch can be deadily if not treated in puppies if shes getting shots when you go in talk to the vet about this
No. talk to the vet to-morrow. She may not give her her shots if she has diarrhea.
If she wasn’t going to the vet to-morrow anyway you would need to make an appointment. Puppies and diarrhea can be serious as pups dehydrate quickly.
Since the vet visit is that soon you really don’t have time to try anything else. When you see the vet explain the situation then and current. Do bring in a stool sample for them to possible test for parasites. You never know.
Good luck
You should call the vet tonight they might want you to bring in a stool sample when you bring her in for shots tomorrow they can possibly test it for parvo or something else hope its not but early treatment can save your pups life!! Best of luck..
a puppy can dehydrate fast i wouldn’t wait to long…
