Will I feel pain during colonoscopy and endoscopy exam?
I’m 49. Do to strange things happening with my body I am going to have to get an endoscopy and colonosocopy along with an prostate exam!
Has anyone here had these procedures?
Will I gag with the endoscopy? Will I feel pain with the colonoscopy and prostate exam?
I fear. I don’t’ want any pain.
I had an endoscopy done earlier this summer, and it does not hurt at all. They give you a sedative while you’re waiting so that you’re nice and calm beforehand, then they sedate you heavily during the procedure.
In fact, you are so heavily sedated that you likely won’t remember a single thing about it. The last thing I remember was them telling me that they were about to start the sedative in my IV… then I was waking up in recovery with a nurse doing paperwork next to my bed. No pain, no discomfort at all. The next day I had a little bit of a scratchy throat but nothing bad at all.
I know they knock you out for colonoscopies too, so you should be out for everything. You will need to have somebody drive you home because you will be pretty sedated for several hours after the procedures, you won’t be able to drive yourself. Good luck!
I have had the above procedures done and felt nothing, no discomfort of any form. Relax, you will be fine.
I’ve had an endoscopy before, and did not feel any pain during or after the exam. I don’t remember gagging or anything either
You’ll be fine, there’s nothing to worry about.
I have never been sedated for my colonoscopies and in my case there is some level of discomfort; but, not significant. As the discomfort increased I told the doctor about it and where it was located. That enabled the doctor to slow down and adjust the scope while at the same time the nurse could apply pressure in the area of the discomfort.
In your case, you will most likely be sedated for the both. As for those who are sedated; very few ever recall any pain or discomfort. That is usually the effect of the Versed.
