How much do you remember after a colonoscopy?
I am 19 and have to have a colonoscopy soon. I am worried because some people say they hurt when they pump air into you. Is this true?
Also, how much do you remember of it? Do they put you to sleep??
And and and how do they get the air out? Do u just fart it out??
xxxxx
It depends on the procedure your doctor uses. I worked for a doctor who anesthetized people beforehand, so they didn’t feel a thing. If your doctor doesn’t do this, you will feel a crampy type abdominal pain when the intestine is inflated with air. Ask your doctor what to expect and whether or not you’ll be out or receive something like a sedative beforehand.
You are going to have gas pains afterwards. Gently massaging your abdomen or lying flat on your stomach will help you get rid of the air quicker and relieve the pain.
I depends on what they give you. Versed (street name the date rape drug) has you feel everything, you can’t respond and then hopefully you forget. No you are not asleep, you forget. Most doctors leave the air in and you get to fart the rest of the day.
I have had four colonoscopies. I have never been sedated. Pain is a state of mind; but, most people prefer to forget. I prefer to know if the doctor screws up; so, I know who to blame. I also have a scientific curiosity of the internal workings.
