How do I get a colonoscopy Asap?
I’ve had "IBS" severely for years (previous colonoscopies have shown no evidence of colitis, but they were over 3 years ago), but now I think it could be colitis. I have reason to believe this because I’ve lost 65 lbs over the last year, 10 of which have been in the last 3 weeks. I’m now officially underweight, which has never happened to me. I’m not losing on purpose, it’s just that I’m often in so much abdominal pain that I cannot eat. After the painful cramps and diarrhea I had today, I went to the ER. They gave me pain meds, sent me home, and said to check with a doctor. I’m also weak and fatigued, recently getting spells of light-headedness.
The thing is, I have a summer full of trips planned, starting the third week in June! If I have a treatable condition like Crohn’s, I want to be on that med before I start flying all over the country! How can I get into a doc’s office and let him agree to scope me SOON?
You need to first make an appointment with a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. He or she will help you schedule the tests you need to make the right diagnosis and determine the right treatment for you.
You have to get a doc to order colonoscopy. Make an appointment.
if the ER doc wont refer u then try the phone book for GI medicine/ physicians, or try going to different family practitioners someone eventually will listen to u
The quicker the appointment, the quicker the procedure. If you’re as bad off as you sound they’ll get you in fast. Good luck!
Tell the DR. what you just said in your question, and tell him to get you scheduled for a colonoscopy ASAP. You could call the DR. that does the colonoscopy, and see if he can get you in. Good Luck………
