Don’t know if it was the prep or the sedation cocktail; but, I know someone who lost their sense of taste for almost a year after the procedure.
I have never been sedated and so far I always took the Fleet Phospha Soda for my prep. That has been pulled from the market so who knows what happens the next time except that it won’t be PEG based as IMO that is a deal killer.
Outside of the fact most most of the prep kits are pretty unpleasant, no.
Yes,…I know a person that had the procedure done and there intestine was scratched and they lost 4 pints of blood and nearly died, procedure done in Columbia Co. Ga.
I don’t know anyone that had any major problems with having a colonoscopy or even the prep. The prep itself is not pleasant, but the procedure itself you don’t even know what is happening, they put you out, and when you wake up everything is done and fine.
Funny you should ask; I just had my first colonoscopy on Wednesday.
I can tell you that MoviPrep smells and tastes like lemon-oil furniture polish. It was so bad that I doubt I’ll ever dust again.
GoLitely can be doctored with Crystal Lite so it doesn’t taste too bad . After I complained about the other stuff, the doc told me that. Thanks, buddy.
My GI doc said his complication rate is 1/6000 procedures. That’s one every several years. Pretty low odds, if you ask me.
I opted to have the procedure done without sedation. While it was a bit uncomfortable, it certainly wasn’t even close to what I experienced with childbirth, and I wanted to see the video in real time.
I couldn’t even feel the snips he took for biopsy (negative).
Considering the alternative (colon cancer), the colonoscopy is no big deal.
Don’t worry about it, and get it done. The hype is far worse than the reality.
