Does crohns have to be seen in colonoscopy?
I had a colonoscopy due to IBS getting so much worse. I feel like something else besides the IBS is going on. I’m thinking Crohns, but the doctor didn’t mention that–only that I may need additional tests he would dicuss at follow up visit. I am just wondering if he would be able to tell for sure that I didn’t have it–just through the colonoscopy.
Hi, i am sorry to hear you are going through a tough time. I am a Crohn’s patient and to answer your question, no it Doesn’t HAVE TO BE seen in the colonoscopy but if you are having bad pain or bad symptoms currently and the doctor went through all your color and your terminal ileum (part just before the colon) which he likely did then Crohn’s is not likely. A simple blood test can be taken to make sure you do not have Crohn’s but still can come back negative and still be there. For me a colonoscopy was taken and they found Crohn’s even though the biopsies came back negative…the blood test came back positive. If you can give me more of your symptoms, or simply you can look them up, you can have a better idea if you have Crohn’s because it seems like it is best diagnosed by checking the symptoms.
Depending on where your pain is, given that you have pain, you may want to have an upper endoscopy and if not done already a CT scan would be a very good idea.
Hope i helped, good luck
