What causes bloating and gas in children who are 5 years old?
My son already had 3 stool tests and xray in the stomach and they didnt see anything. He is scheduled for colonoscopy and endoscopy. But what are the possible causes of his bloating and gas?
could be allergic to a food you are feeding him or even a drink.
could be stress or a form of encopresis or bowel incontinence.

possibly the food he is eating. maybe he isnt getting the proper nutritents that a 5 year old boy should be getting. good luck!!
It could be due to lactose intolerance or another food allergy. It could also be the result of an endocrine disease, and a trip to an endocrinologist may be warranted.
I used to get ‘wind pains’ really bad when I was 5 or 6. Our GP showed no concern but hey, back then they didn’t have much to offer (pre endoscopic exam days). My mon had me sip whiskey and sugar in hot water (yuk) and cuddle a hot water bottle (nice). I grew out of whatever it was and likely as not so will your son. Best let the doctors check though. Just to be safe.
As for causes: infant colons, like other parts of the body are still developing and muscle control could be incomplete/irratic. He may be snacking too much. Is he being very physically active soon after large meals?
