Homemade remedies for bloating and cramping?
On my period and just wondering if there are any good homemade remedies..like any sort of teas or anything that would help eleviate some of the bloating and cramping.. not one for taking pain killers cuz they upset my stomach.
There are a lot of good herbs that can help with cramping (having crampbark tea can help). Also B vitamins are very helpful (especially B6) and Magnesium is a muscle relaxant which can help to alleviate the cramping. Try to avoid the salty food and as much as you might crave chocolate it actually makes the situation worse (it contains constituents that aggravate PMS). If you have bad periods and PMS you should really do some hormonal regulation and liver detoxifcation (since its your liver that processes and break down your hormones). Working on your overall health will help to reduce the incidence of PMS and uncomfortable periods.
Eating blueberries is supposed to be helpful.
avoid salty foods
hot baths, water bottle, chocolate, exercises
Teas might help, the tanic acid in tea is suppose to help several things, sunburn for one. I do know they suggest for child bearing women to drink tea with crackers to help with morning sickness. I know it’s helped soothe my tummy when it’s felt yucky, whether it was from acid reflux, indigestion, or from drinking (back in my drinking days).
A older friend of mine always said an old home remedy is to take a teaspoon or two of baking soda and mix it with a glass of water. I’ve never personally tried it. I’m afraid I wouldn’t like the taste. I’m a big wuss to things that don’t taste just right and afraid the taste would make me sicker.
