What should I do about this sever upper left abdominal pain?
I have an extremely sharp pain in my upper left abdomen and it’s been reoccuring for the past week and I know its not constipation but I don’t know what it could be. The pains are so bad I have literally been hunched in a ball crying. I don’t know if this is serious or not or what it could be but it’s definitely not normal. Please help me.
Sounds like this isn’t the most pleasant experience. Determing the actual cause of chronic pain is difficult unless you have a history of past medical condtions that would possible attribute to your discomfort. Therefore, since your "sharp pain" in the abdomen has been occuring for the last 9 days, if this pain doesn’t subside, you should request an abdominal ultrasound from your doctor, which would rule out any abnormalities appendicitis, organ obstruction, and so forth. This would at least assure you that the pain might be related to a less serious condition. By the way, its probably not appendicitis as your pain isn’t on the right side. In the interim, tylenol or advil might provide some temporary relief. Hope to be a help
see a doctor immediatly could possibly a hernia or some sort of intestinal issue
Any pain that makes you cry is a sign you need to see a doctor. I don’t remember which organs are where, but one side is the appendix, the other is the gall bladder. All your guts are in there, it could be absolutely anything from a slight virus with a nasty symptom of extreme pain, something very serious, or the extreme need for passing gas. Since it has been three days, I’m guessing it’s not gas. There is no way to answer this question responsibly on line. You really need to see somebody about that.
It could be nothing, and it could be something. Any unexplained pain is a symptom of something wrong. From tearing open a tiny piece of skin from a paper cut, to the rupture of vital organs, or the need for the body to say, "don’t eat that again!"; pain is your bodies way of letting you know that it’s systems have been compromised in some way. It is always a signal that an issue should be addressed.
Good luck!
i am a doctor and i think you should see one.
if you go to the ER they will usually do a scan of your belly.
if you haven’t eaten in a while you might need some fluid through an IV. don’t eat anything if you can help it.
sometimes gas can be that painful but sometimes it could also be something like an obstruction of your intestine which might need surgery.
just go to the ER.
